Job Title: Roll Forming Machine Operator/Technician
Job Summary:
The Roll Forming Machine Operator/Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining roll forming machines that shape sheet metal or other materials into specific profiles according to customer requirements. This role involves setting up the machine, troubleshooting any issues, and ensuring high-quality production in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate roll forming machines according to job orders, blueprints, and production specifications.
- Adjust machine settings (e.g., rollers, guides) to produce parts within specified tolerances.
- Monitor machine operations to detect and correct issues such as machine malfunctions or substandard quality.
- Material Handling:
- Load coils of sheet metal or other raw materials into the roll forming machine using cranes, forklifts, or other equipment.
- Unload finished products from the machine and organize them for inspection or shipping.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards, dimensions, and profiles.
- Make necessary adjustments to ensure the precision of the final product.
- Document production data such as quantity, quality checks, and material used.
- Machine Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of roll forming machines, tools, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or electrical issues that arise during production.
- Report major equipment malfunctions to the maintenance department.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmets, and safety glasses.
- Ensure that machines and tools are operated safely, and the work area is kept clean and organized.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with supervisors, quality control personnel, and other operators to meet production goals.
- Communicate any issues or concerns with team members and supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Technical certification or training in machine operation or a related field is a plus.
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience operating roll forming machines or similar equipment in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with metalworking processes and materials, including steel, aluminum, or other sheet metals.
- Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Basic math skills, including measurement and geometry.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools and machine components.
