2. Key Cities and Regions in Namibia Using Roll Forming Machines

Windhoek

As Namibia’s capital and largest urban center, Windhoek leads in commercial and industrial development. Many construction firms and metal fabricators are based here.

Walvis Bay and Swakopmund

These coastal cities are hubs for shipping, port infrastructure, and marine industry-related steel fabrication.

Oshakati and Ondangwa

The northern region is growing rapidly in residential and small commercial buildings, requiring roofing and structural steel solutions.

Rundu

An emerging market for agricultural buildings and residential developments in the northeast.

3. Industries That Use Roll Forming Machines in Namibia

Construction and Roofing Contractors
Prefabricated Building Manufacturers
Steel Structure Companies
Agricultural Warehousing and Storage
Government Infrastructure Projects (schools, clinics, housing)

Roll forming machines serve both public and private sector needs across housing, energy, logistics, and manufacturing.

4. Maintenance for Roll Forming Machines in Namibia

Proper maintenance ensures your roll forming machine remains efficient and productive for many years. Here are key maintenance tasks:

Daily Maintenance

Wipe down the machine
Check for loose bolts or fittings
Inspect hydraulic oil levels
Clean the rollers to prevent profile marks

Weekly Maintenance

Lubricate chains and gears
Inspect the cutting blade for wear
Clean the PLC cabinet and check cables

Monthly Maintenance

Change hydraulic oil if required
Tighten any misaligned parts
Inspect motor temperature and belt tension
Run diagnostic on the PLC system

Spare parts such as rollers, motors, and cutting blades should be kept in inventory if operating in remote regions of Namibia.

5. Setup and Operation of Roll Forming Machines

Setting up a roll forming machine involves the following:

Uncoiler Setup: Load coil and align it for feeding.
Feeding: Feed sheet into the first roller station.
Roller Adjustment: Set forming rollers based on profile type and thickness.
Hydraulic Cutting System: Adjust cutting length and position.
PLC Programming: Input dimensions, batch count, and other operational data.
Trial Run: Perform trial runs and make adjustments.
Final Production: Start production and monitor performance.

Operators should be trained on PLC operation, emergency stops, safety procedures, and daily maintenance.

6. Machine Pricing in Namibia

Prices vary depending on the machine type, automation level, and profile complexity.

Machine Type	Low-End Price (USD)	High-End Price (USD)
Roof Panel Machine	$18,000	$60,000
C & Z Purlin Machine	$28,000	$95,000
Gutter Roll Forming Machine	$15,000	$45,000
Door Frame Machine	$22,000	$70,000

Used machines are available at discounted rates and are popular with startups in Windhoek and Oshakati.

7. Who Manufactures Roll Forming Machines in Namibia?

Namibia does not yet have a large domestic roll forming machinery manufacturing sector. Most machines are imported from:

South Africa
China
India
Turkey
Europe

Local distributors and resellers may provide after-sales support, but sourcing the right machine to fit your profile needs can be challenging without direct access to international manufacturers.

9. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: Can I use a roll forming machine outdoors in Namibia?

Yes, but it's recommended to use a covered or sheltered area, especially in coastal regions like Walvis Bay due to humidity and salt corrosion.

Q2: Can roll forming machines be powered by solar energy?

Yes, if your solar setup can support the power requirements (typically 7.5kW to 22kW), you can run the machine off-grid.

Q3: How long does it take to set up a roll forming machine?

Initial setup can take 2–3 days depending on complexity. Operator training may take another day.

Q4: Is it better to buy a used or new roll forming machine?

It depends on your budget and expected output. Used machines are cost-effective for startups; new machines offer higher reliability and tech support.

Q5: Can one machine make multiple profiles?

Some machines come with interchangeable molds or quick-change systems, allowing you to produce more than one profile type.
