Most Popular Roll Forming Machines in Lesotho

Lesotho, a landlocked country in Southern Africa, is increasingly embracing industrial machinery to support infrastructure development, housing projects, and commercial construction. Roll forming machines, in particular, are gaining traction in Lesotho as the demand for metal building components continues to grow. From roofing panels to steel framing, roll forming technology is becoming a key part of the nation’s evolving manufacturing landscape.

In this article, we explore the most popular roll forming machines used in Lesotho, their types and specifications, the profiles they produce, the industries that rely on them, major cities and regions where they are commonly found, required maintenance practices, cost ranges, and how Machine Matcher can help you source the ideal machine for your business needs.

Cities and Areas in Lesotho Where Roll Forming Machines Are Most Common

1. Maseru

As the capital city and economic hub of Lesotho, Maseru is home to the majority of metalworking workshops, steel distributors, and roofing contractors. Demand for roll forming machines here is high due to ongoing urban development projects and housing initiatives.

2. Maputsoe

Close to the South African border, Maputsoe is an industrial town with a growing number of factories. It serves as a secondary base for metal fabrication and roll forming activity.

3. Mafeteng and Hlotse

These towns are experiencing infrastructure growth and rural-to-urban migration, boosting demand for pre-fabricated metal components such as roof sheets and structural steel.

Maintenance Requirements for Roll Forming Machines

Regular maintenance of roll forming machines is essential to ensure longevity and minimize downtime. Here are the typical maintenance tasks required:

Daily Cleaning: Remove metal shavings, dust, and oil build-up.
Lubrication: Keep rollers, bearings, and chains lubricated with manufacturer-recommended oil.
Inspection: Check roller alignment, motor performance, and hydraulic systems weekly.
Electrical System Check: Inspect wiring and PLC controls for faults monthly.
Replace Worn Parts: Rollers and blades may need replacing every 12–24 months depending on usage.

Setup and Operation of Roll Forming Machines

Setup Steps:

Install the machine on a level concrete floor.
Connect to power supply according to your country's voltage (typically 380V/50Hz in Lesotho).
Load the steel coil onto the manual or hydraulic uncoiler.
Feed the coil into the machine, aligning with the rollers.
Set profile parameters on the PLC control.

Operation:

Start the roll forming machine using the HMI control panel.
Monitor speed and alignment during operation.
Perform test runs to confirm profile accuracy.
Switch to auto mode for continuous production.

Training is usually required to safely operate hydraulic and PLC systems, and Machine Matcher offers assistance in sourcing machines with user-friendly manuals and video guides.
