Oil Tank Mount Bracket | Roll Forming Machine Reservoir Support Bracket

Oil Tank Mount Bracket

1. Technical Definition

An oil tank mount bracket is a structural support component used to secure hydraulic or lubrication oil reservoirs to the frame or structure of a machine.

The bracket provides a stable mounting point that holds the oil tank in position during machine operation while supporting the weight of the oil-filled reservoir.

In roll forming machines, oil tank mount brackets are commonly used to support:

Hydraulic reservoirs
Lubrication oil tanks
Hydraulic power unit tanks
Gearbox oil reservoirs
Central lubrication system tanks

They ensure the reservoir remains stable under vibration and operational loads.

2. Where It Is Located

Oil tank mount brackets are installed between the oil reservoir and the machine frame or supporting structure.

Common installation locations in roll forming machines include:

Beneath hydraulic power unit reservoirs
Mounted to machine base frames
Attached to hydraulic power unit skid frames
Along machine support structures
Under lubrication system tanks

They are typically positioned on the sides or base of the reservoir.

3. Primary Functions

3.1 Support the Oil Reservoir

Carries the weight of the oil tank and contained fluid.

3.2 Secure Tank Position

Prevents movement or shifting during machine operation.

3.3 Reduce Vibration Effects

Stabilizes the reservoir during machine vibration.

3.4 Maintain Proper System Alignment

Ensures hydraulic connections remain aligned.

4. How It Works

The oil tank mount bracket provides structural support for the reservoir.

Typical operation process:

The bracket is bolted or welded to the machine frame.

The oil reservoir is placed on or attached to the bracket.

Mounting bolts secure the tank to the bracket.

The bracket transfers the tank load to the machine structure.

The tank remains stable during machine operation.

This ensures reliable support for the oil reservoir.

5. Types of Oil Tank Mount Brackets

Base Mount Bracket

Supports the reservoir from beneath the tank.

Side Mount Bracket

Attaches to the sides of the reservoir.

Frame-Mounted Bracket

Connects the tank directly to the machine frame.

Adjustable Mount Bracket

Allows repositioning for alignment adjustments.

6. Construction & Materials

Oil tank mount brackets are built to withstand the weight of fluid-filled tanks and machine vibration.

Common materials include:

Structural steel
Stainless steel
Heavy-duty aluminum
Powder-coated steel

Important structural features include:

Mounting plates
Support arms
Bolt holes or mounting slots
Reinforcement ribs

These features provide reliable structural support.

7. System Integration

Oil tank mount brackets support hydraulic and lubrication systems.

Typical systems using these brackets include:

Hydraulic power units
Hydraulic reservoirs
Central lubrication systems
Gearbox lubrication reservoirs
Oil storage tanks

The bracket supports the tank used in these systems.

8. Design Considerations

Engineers consider several factors when designing oil tank mount brackets.

Important considerations include:

Reservoir weight when full
Machine vibration levels
Mounting surface strength
Accessibility for maintenance
Corrosion resistance

Proper bracket design ensures safe tank support.

9. High-Speed Production Considerations

High-speed roll forming machines generate vibration and dynamic loads. Oil tank mount brackets must securely hold reservoirs to prevent movement or hydraulic line stress.

10. Heavy Gauge Applications

Heavy gauge roll forming machines often use large hydraulic reservoirs requiring reinforced mounting brackets.

11. Light Gauge Applications

Light gauge roll forming machines typically use smaller reservoirs with lighter mounting brackets.

12. Common Failure Causes

Oil tank mount brackets may fail due to:

Excessive vibration
Loose mounting bolts
Metal fatigue
Corrosion

Routine inspection helps prevent mounting failures.

13. Symptoms of Mount Bracket Issues

Technicians may observe:

Reservoir movement or vibration
Loose mounting bolts
Misaligned hydraulic connections
Visible bracket cracks or deformation

These symptoms may indicate mounting problems.

14. Installation Requirements

Proper installation of oil tank mount brackets includes:

Securing the bracket to the machine frame
Aligning the oil tank correctly
Installing mounting bolts and fasteners
Ensuring structural stability

Correct installation ensures reliable reservoir support.

15. Maintenance Requirements

Routine maintenance should include:

Inspecting bracket integrity
Checking mounting bolts for tightness
Inspecting for corrosion or damage
Verifying tank stability

Regular inspection ensures long-term structural support.

16. Typical Replacement Cost

Oil tank mount bracket costs vary depending on size and construction.

Typical price ranges include:

Small reservoir bracket
$20 – $80

Industrial hydraulic tank bracket
$80 – $250

Heavy-duty structural mounting bracket
$250 – $600+

Costs depend on bracket size and materials.

17. Safety Considerations

Improper reservoir mounting may lead to:

Tank movement or vibration
Hydraulic line stress or failure
Oil leaks from fittings
Machine instability

Secure mounting systems improve machine safety.

18. Role in Roll Forming Machine Assemblies

Oil tank mount brackets support hydraulic and lubrication systems used in roll forming machines including:

Hydraulic power units
Lubrication reservoirs
Hydraulic tanks
Oil storage tanks
Central lubrication systems

They provide structural support for fluid reservoirs.

Engineering Summary

The oil tank mount bracket is a structural support component used to secure oil reservoirs to machine frames.

It:

Supports the weight of oil tanks
Secures reservoirs during machine operation
Reduces vibration effects
Maintains hydraulic system alignment
Ensures stable mounting of fluid systems
