The FSW-660M/690 is a friction stir welding (FSW) machine developed specifically for aluminium formwork production. It welds the centre joint between two L-sections to form a C panel, and handles C panel widths from 250mm to 600mm in a single weld length of up to 6000mm.

Friction stir welding is a solid-state joining process. A constantly rotating tool with a specially designed shoulder and pin is plunged into the workpiece. Friction between the tool and the material generates heat and softens the aluminium without melting it. As the tool travels along the joint, the softened material is swept from the leading edge to the trailing edge and forged into a solid joint.
