The HF28 is a high-frequency ERW (electric resistance welded) tube mill for producing small-diameter steel tube. It makes round tube from 8mm to 50.8mm in diameter, with wall thicknesses of 0.3 to 1.8mm, and square tube from 10 × 10mm to 40 × 40mm, with wall thicknesses of 0.3 to 1.5mm. Production speed runs from 20 to 120m/min.

The mill works by forming steel strip into a tube shape through a series of rolling moulds. High-frequency current then heats the strip edges, using the proximity effect and skin effect, and the two edges are pressed together by squeeze rolls to form the weld. The tube is cooled in a water tank, then sized and straightened to the required dimensions.

The complete line runs from raw material feeding through to cutting and collecting the finished tube. Production speed can be varied according to tube size. It runs hot or cold rolled carbon steel strip in grades such as Q195, Q235, and 16Mn.
