PAAWM-56Aa Orbital Automatic Pipeline Welding Machine (DN400-1400) | Qianshan, Shanghai, China
The PAAWM-56Aa is an orbital automatic welding machine for pipeline construction. It is designed for large and medium-diameter, thick-wall pipe (DN400 to DN1400, wall thickness 6 to 80mm) and does the hot pass, fill, and cap welding on circumferential joints.
A split-type orbital track is installed around the outside of the pipe and centred quickly by hand with screws. The welding head rides on the track, and the carriage is forced to follow it, so the gun stays in the right position around the whole circumference. The machine uses the FCAW/GMAW process with solid wire and mixed gas, welds downhill, and works in all positions. It uses an imported genuine MIG welding power supply which tolerates the voltage fluctuation of site generators, which is important for field work.
The operator inputs all the welding parameters before welding and can also adjust the machine in real time while it is running. The machine is used after the root pass has been welded, and Qianshan notes that pipe ends must be beveled and that the root is welded first with STT semiautomatic welding.
Why Choose an Orbital Pipeline Welder?
Pipeline fill and cap passes are long, repetitive welds that must be made in every position around the pipe. Doing them manually is slow and depends heavily on welder skill, while an orbital machine repeats the same conditions around every joint.
- Productivity. Qianshan quotes 250 to 350 inches per day of welding capacity.
- Weld quality. Qianshan states a welding qualification rate of over 96%.
- All-position welding. The gun follows the track, so the surface shaping stays consistent around the pipe.
- Field-ready. A split, external track, manual centring, and a power supply that tolerates generator voltage swings suit installation sites.
- Thick wall capability. Wall thicknesses up to 80mm are covered.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does this machine do?
It automatically welds the hot pass, fill, and cap on circumferential pipeline joints, using an orbital track around the pipe.
What pipe can it weld?
DN400 to DN1400 pipe with wall thicknesses from 6mm to 80mm, in carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and low temperature steel.
Does it weld the root pass?
No. Qianshan says the root is welded first using STT semiautomatic welding, and this machine is used after that. Pipe ends must be beveled.
How fast is it?
The travel speed is 0 to 36m/h, and Qianshan quotes a welding capacity of 250 to 350 inches per day.
Can it work on site?
Yes. It uses a split external track with manual centring and a power supply that tolerates generator voltage fluctuation.
What can the weave do?
Oscillation width is 2.5 to 30mm, speed 0 to 42mm/s, with a maximum offset of 70mm and dwell time up to 2s, in four selectable waveforms.
Is financing or staged payment available?
Yes. A deposit secures your order and begins production, with the remaining balance due only once your machine has been built, inspected, and is ready to ship.
Should I buy new or used?
This model is available new, built to order.
