Detailed Machine Specifications

Grinding Capacity

The VIGERT M7163 delivers exceptional grinding capacity with a maximum grinding length of 1250 mm and a grinding width of 630 mm. These dimensions allow users to handle large and long workpieces efficiently, making the machine suitable for heavy industrial components, die plates, and base parts that require fine surface finishing.

The vertical travel of the grinding head is 600 mm, which provides ample flexibility for various depth requirements during grinding operations.

Grinding Wheel and Speed

The machine uses a high-grade grinding wheel measuring 400 mm in diameter, 50 mm in width, and a bore size of 203 mm. Rotating at a speed of 1440 revolutions per minute (r/min), this wheel ensures effective material removal while maintaining stability and control during operations.

The design also accommodates fast wheel changes and adjustments, enabling shops to stay productive with minimal downtime.

Motor Power and Drive

Equipped with a total motor power of 13.5 kW, the M7163 offers robust performance even under load. The 7.5 kW spindle motor provides ample torque to drive the grinding wheel with consistency and power across various materials such as hardened steel, tool steel, and cast iron.

This setup allows the machine to handle continuous use in production environments while maintaining performance and accuracy.

Precision and Surface Quality

The M7163 planar grinder excels in producing high-precision finishes. With a surface roughness rating of Ra 0.63 µm, the machine is capable of achieving mirror-like surface finishes. The processing accuracy is maintained within 0.015 mm per 1000 mm, providing confidence in consistent part quality.

These attributes are essential for manufacturers in aerospace, automotive, and mold industries, where tolerances are tight and finish quality directly impacts product performance.

Control System and Feed

The machine is designed with hydraulic control for longitudinal feed, enabling smooth and reliable travel along the bed. This system reduces operator effort and enhances stability during long grinding passes.

The cross feed is also variable, giving the operator full control over feed speed and rate, which is critical when switching between rough grinding and fine surface finishing.

The inclusion of a digital display gives real-time feedback on machine position and feed settings, further supporting high-precision work.

Machine Construction and Design

Integral Bed Rail Structure

The M7163 is constructed with an integrated bed rail frame, which enhances machine rigidity and absorbs vibrations during heavy grinding operations. This structure plays a significant role in prolonging machine life and protecting the accuracy of its components over time.

Hydraulic Station

To prevent thermal deformation—often a concern during extended use—the machine features an independent hydraulic station, isolated from the main frame. This smart design reduces heat transfer and ensures consistent operation across long shifts.

Automatic Lubrication

Maintenance is made simple and efficient with a fully automatic lubrication system that continuously supplies oil to critical moving parts. This reduces wear and extends the lifespan of key components, contributing to long-term reliability.

Workpiece Handling

A key convenience feature is the inclusion of an electronic demagnetization device, which makes loading and unloading of magnetic workpieces easier. This significantly reduces downtime between jobs and helps the operator maintain a smooth workflow.
