FHA Drip Edge Roll Forming Machine – USA Supplier

FHA Drip Edge Roll Forming Machine — Technical Specification

1. Machine Overview

The FHA Drip Edge Roll Forming Machine is a fully automated production line designed to continuously form coil metal into the standard FHA (Federal Housing Administration) drip edge profile used in residential and commercial roofing. The system uncoils, feeds, roll forms, and cuts-to-length in a single continuous pass, producing a consistent, straight, and burr-free drip edge profile ready for packaging or direct shipment.

2. Product / Profile Specification

• Profile type: FHA Drip Edge (standard T-style / L-style, per FHA/HUD roofing edge metal requirements)
• Material: Galvanized steel, Galvalume, or aluminum coil
• Material thickness: 0.019" – 0.032" (0.4 – 0.8 mm), adjustable per tooling
• Coil width (blank width): Typically 6", 8", or per customer specification
• Finished leg dimensions: Standard 1-1/2" x 1-1/2", 2" x 1-1/2", or custom per drawing
• Standard length: 8', 10', or 12' cut-to-length (custom lengths available)
• Surface finish: Painted, mill finish, or galvanized

3. Machine Construction

3.1 Frame

• Heavy-duty welded steel frame, stress-relieved and precision CNC-machined
• Frame thickness: typically 16–20 mm steel plate
• Surface treatment: sandblasted and painted (anti-rust primer + finish coat)

3.2 Forming Stations

• Number of forming stations: 10–16 stations (profile dependent)
• Roller material: GCr15 bearing steel, hard chrome plated, precision ground
• Roller shaft: 45# forged steel, hard chrome plated
• Shaft diameter: 60–75 mm (based on machine size)
• Roller station spacing and design engineered to prevent scratching, wrinkling, or bowing of the finished profile

3.3 Drive System

• Drive type: Chain drive or gear-box drive (per customer preference)
• Motor: 3–5.5 kW, 3-phase (voltage per local standard, e.g., 380V/220V/440V, 50/60Hz)
• Transmission: Reduction gearbox with chain and sprocket coupling to each roller shaft
• Forming speed: 8–15 m/min (adjustable via inverter/frequency drive)

3.4 Feeding / Uncoiling

• Manual or hydraulic decoiler, 3–5 ton capacity (per coil weight requirement)
• Coil inner diameter accommodation: 450–530 mm (standard)
• Optional: motorized/powered decoiler with loop control

3.5 Cutting System

• Cutting method: Hydraulic post-cut-off (after forming) for flat, straight, burr-free cuts
• Cutting material: Cr12MoV tool steel, quenched and tempered, HRC58-62
• Hydraulic station: 3–4 kW motor, hydraulic pump station with pressure gauge and directional valve
• Cut tolerance: ±1 mm

3.6 Control System

• PLC control system (e.g., Delta, Mitsubishi per customer preference)
• Touchscreen HMI for length setting, quantity counting, and speed adjustment
• Automatic length counting via encoder
• Emergency stop and safety guarding on all pinch points
• Electrical cabinet: enclosed, labeled per IEC/NEMA standards
