Addy suits Michigan manufacturers, particularly automotive suppliers and precision job shops, that are buying new Mazak or Okamoto machines and want a local dealer to deliver a machine ready to make parts. Its turnkey service, with full PPAP documentation at runoff, suits tier suppliers who must qualify a process for an OEM before production. Shops new to Mazak can use its certified CNC programming training, and buyers on a tighter budget can look at its used machinery. With technical centres on both sides of Michigan, support is close to most of the state's manufacturing base.

Full Description
Addy Machinery was founded in 1918 and is now run by the fourth generation of the Addy family, led by President Peter Addy. It was a founding member of the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association (AMTDA) in 1926, and two members of the family have chaired the association. In 1998 it became the world's first machine tool distributor registered to QS-9000, the automotive quality standard of the time.
Addy has distributed Mazak machines since 1978 and describes itself as one of Mazak's original US distributors. It has received several Mazak awards, including Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement honours, and says it has sold more than 4,000 machines in Michigan. Alongside Mazak's 5-axis, multi-tasking, hybrid, machining centre, turning centre and Swiss-style machines, it sells Okamoto grinders, HE&M saws and ONA EDM machines, plus used machinery and accessories.
The company runs two technical centres: a 20,000 sq ft centre in Clinton Township, opened in 2000 with a 15-ton overhead crane, and a 5,000 sq ft centre in Grand Rapids, opened in 2008. Four application engineers, who are also Mazak-certified instructors, support turnkey projects and run certified Mazak CNC programming courses. All of Addy's salespeople are registered as Certified Machine Tool Sales Engineers through AMTDA.
Addy's turnkey service develops the full machining process for a customer's part and proves it out at runoff, with complete PPAP documentation. That matters to automotive suppliers, who need an approved process before production can start.
