Full Description
Absolute Machinery was founded in June 2000 by Nathan Smith and Michael Ortolano in Worcester, Massachusetts. It began by representing new injection moulding machines, then moved into used equipment when it saw that customers often needed machines immediately. Glenn Frohring became owner in 2006, and the company describes itself as one of the largest dealers of used plastics and metalworking machinery in North America.
Plastics is its main market. It stocks used horizontal injection moulding machines from under 100 tons to over 500 tons, vertical machines and thermoformers, plus a wide range of auxiliary equipment. It's also the US and Canadian distributor for new Haitian injection moulding machines and ARI robots, so buyers can choose new or used. On the metalworking side, it sells used CNC lathes, machining centres, die casting machines, welders and lasers, with brands including Okuma and Peddinghaus.
Its 50,000 sq ft Worcester facility has testing bays with high-amperage power, so machines can be run before sale, along with cranes, a paint booth and a parts department. Ten in-house certified technicians handle service and repairs, and the company also runs mould trials, operator training and safety courses.
The leadership team is active in the industry. Nathan Smith is an MDNA member and AMEA-certified senior appraiser, Glenn Frohring sits on the Plastics Industry Association's equipment council, and Michael Ortolano serves on the ANSI/OSHA safety committee for injection moulding. Absolute also offers appraisals, buyback, auctions, liquidations and financing.
