Akyapak was founded in 1962 in Bursa, one of Turkey's main industrial cities, and has grown into one of the country's best-known machinery exporters. It runs a 32,000 m² production facility in the Hasanağa organised industrial zone and sells to around 100 countries, with a US subsidiary in Tampa, Florida, since 2015.

The company works under several product brands. AKBEND covers plate rolls, profile benders and pipe benders, including 3-roll variable geometry and 4-roll plate rolls for rolling heavy plate into cylinders and cones. AKDRILL covers CNC drilling lines for structural beams and plate. AKWELD covers column-and-boom welding manipulators and welding positioners for large cylindrical parts. Under the Akyapak name itself sit CNC plasma and oxy-fuel cutting machines, gantry drilling and cutting machines up to 36 metres, flanging and dish-end machines, and plate straighteners.
